KENNETH AUTHOR

Let the cynical person do the research, because without doubt we have nothing to question.

More and more people are feeling comfortable talking about their online dating experiences, or even admitting to the fact that they’ve turned to the internet in order to find a mate.  It was not long ago that most people would feel very embarrassed to say that they had a dating profile online because we once associated that with desperation.  Before “Online Dating”, these types of services were associated with those “Video Dating” services that “completely helpless” people used, or at least that’s how they were portrayed in the media.

It’s probably best described in the “Lowered Expectations” segments that were so popular in the 90’s on Mad TV.  (Hey, I remember when I was 12 and I thought Mad TV was genius!)  Those skits showed the saddest and most pathetic people on the planet making…

I first became acquainted with the problems of pollution and ecology in the 1960s when I was attending art school. In 1974, when I was working as a writer for a large advertising agency in New York City, I could not help noticing long lines of cars at the gas pump because of the oil embargo.

Spiritually, this was the same year that I was introduced to the revolutionary ideas of Emanuel Swedenborg and George Gurdjieff.

When the second oil embargo hit in 1979 it became clear to me that no one was going to solve the energy problem. So I decided to take things into my own hands. I was now living in the St. Louis area and good agricultural land could be found within 20 minutes of downtown.

I purchased five acres in Southern Illinois and built a passive solar home. I created a garden of raised beds…

I received this email today and thought I would pass it on to you. I see it has no specific source but it makes sense to me and am going to try this out because I find it hard to swallow 8 glasses of water a day and think this is a more practical way to consume water.

I have read many articles that say we do not have to drink as much water as most nutritionists and trainers, will tell you. In fact my old nutritionist of yester years ‘Adele Davis’ use to say it flushes all the good vitamins out of ones body. That sounds real to me.

Anyway 6 or 7 glasses a day spread over time is doable for me so will give it a go and see if it makes a difference.

This is the email word for word –

When a doctor was asked…

This is another story from All in My Lifetime. If you enjoy it, you may enjoy reading others located on the page by this name.

****************************

I was reading a story the other day and the author described a character as, “an old man, grey haired, wrinkled and well into his sixties.” The line shocked me.

I looked into my mirror which now houses a woman with grey hair and wrinkles. I am “well into my sixties, 68 to be exact,” but old? Not yet! How interesting that my inner most being does not feel “old.” My sense of being young is so strong that it startles me when I realize that other people think of me as old.

It is true that I no longer want to do some of the activities of my youth, but I hope that is due to wisdom rather than advancing years.
My mother…

What if we lived in a colorless world,
shades of grey offering no relief.
Gone would be rainbows of promise,
floresta greens, fields of flowers
spreading their color as far as the
eye can see. Sunshine, twinkling stars
dotting the Milky Way, plumes of sweet
singing birds to delight, fish of every hue.

God filled Earth full of color, yet
many paint their world with moods of
grey, dripping tears of self-pity,
and what-ifs.

Its all about choice, you know.
Why not pick up your brush and
paint your life full of God’s
pallette of love. Sometimes life
is so simple that we do not believe
than it can be so easy.

In our culture, snails are not considered valiant animals — we are constantly exhorting people to “come out of their shells” — but there’s a lot to be said for taking your home with you wherever you go.” ~ Susan Cain

There’s a big to-do going on in the media about having a solo life. Though I love people, I appreciate the solitude, peace, and balance of my independence. In all this reading about the virtues of flying solo, I also happened upon quite a bit of reading about introverts, a group of people I never thought of as my people. Until now.

I have a strong introvert side.

I’m learning is that it’s not the loud, crazy party I crave, but the times I spend with a few people whom I’m close to that mean the most to me. It take a tremendous amount of energy for…

The problem with envy is that
it keeps us from enjoying what
we already have. I hold a
precious jewel in my hand,
my eyes seen not its beauty.
The worm of envy eats away my
pleasure as I long for whatever
is yours.

The wise one rejoices in another’s
good fortune, delights in a
brother’s talent, and cherishes
the gifts our Creator gives each of
us. Ah, to be that wise one!
